ENGINEERING MINDS is a Robotics and Coding Club run by a team of coders, engineers and scientists. We are providers of LEGO Robotics for the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, Royal Borough of Greenwich Council and many community groups, and run Coding and Science After School Clubs in South-East London.
We aim to empower children to get ready for their future by becoming the next generation of scientists, engineers, coders and developers, able use their knowledge and creativity to innovate and improve our world. With the guidance of our experienced tutors, children learn to code, improve their problem thinking, visualise abstract notions, apply maths and physics into their coding games, use their creativity and have lots of moments of Eureka.
Our ethos is to offer high quality STEAM Clubs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, Mathematics) accessible to all children, regardless of their economic or social background.
Our Eltham Club is competing in the National Championship in Harrogate, on 20th April. They have won the Champions Award at the Regional Tournament of First LEGO League at Greenwich University and now are part of the largest FIRST LEGO League event to-date. Wish the good luck and watch the National Finals live from the IET YouTube Channel
Their Innovation Project is an VR System for disabled children. These young engineers are working on creating a Virtual Reality experience for children who may not get the opportunity to try it due to inaccessibility.
With Engineering Minds the school holidays are exciting times when parents do not need to worry about keeping their children physically busy and mentally active.
Our half-day or full- day Science Clubs not only reinforce knowledge and skills learned during the year, but also entertain children and introduce them to new activities and technologies, building on their creativity and eagerness to explore science.
Our clubs have welcomed so far more than 300 children eager to build and code exciting robots. Over the years they have won many medals at LEGO First League, a prestigious international competition held in the UK by the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Our science and coding clubs are suitable for primary school children and are designed to inspire them to explore coding, robotics and key engineering practices from an early age.
Engineering Minds' team aims to harness children's interest for video games in the right direction - which is discovering coding and getting on a path for future success in computer programming.
Our classes encourage children to see themselves as future game developers, a career in growing demand all around the world.
We're delighted to be featured in Twinkl's recent blog - The Benefits of Coding for Children.
In a society that is changing all the time, visuals play a huge role in transmitting a message. Graphic design is constantly influencing the way we perceive organisations, services and people around us.
This course aims to enable children to understand how to create effective visual messages and how to critically assess the visual communications around them.
The Green STEM Festival - Our Planet is an inspirational annual event funded by the UK Science festival Network and ARM, aiming to empower children and families from South- East London understand how our actions impact on the future of Earth, how we can live more sustainably and environmentally responsible, and how Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths can help us to protect our Planet.

With the support of UK Research and Innovation and UK Science Festivals Network, Engineering Minds has run a pilot project in the Royal Borough of Greenwich that aimed to stimulate the interest for a career in engineering for 15 girls aged 11-14 from under-represented groups.
Around the world, women remain severely underrepresented in engineering, as just 12% of those working in engineering are female, compared with 47% of the overall UK workforce.
