STEM AFTER-SCHOOL TEACHER

Job Description


Join Engineering Minds’ team of tutors and deliver our STEM after-school clubs in primary schools in Greenwich, Bromley, Southwark from 3:15pm to 5:30pm. You can join our team and deliver exciting clubs such as LEGO Robotics, LEGO Engineering, STEM Stop Motion Animation- Graphic Design or even STEM Drama clubs.


These clubs are very popular and offers children the chance to experience exciting STEM  projects each week. 


You don’t need to have any experience in coding or engineering. All you need is a real passion for bringing STEM opportunities to children


Engineering Minds will offer you all the support, from comprehensive training and full lesson plans to resources such as equipment and videos for each session, and a great payment scheme. It is a brilliant opportunity and we hope to be able to recruit a passionate teacher or teaching assistant to join our team and start delivering the sessions from April 2024.

Job Responsibilities


  • Support and teach children to engage, understand and apply STEM concepts and enable them to be inspired by careers in this field.
  • Support children understand simple and complex mechanical engineering and coding concepts (for LEGO Robotics or Coding Clubs)
  • Help explaining science projects to children and encourage them to think like engineers and scientists
  • Improve children’s computational thinking, logical reasoning and innovative thinking
  • Develop skills of teamwork, collaboration and timekeeping
  • Support the curriculum development, planning, teaching and assessment to secure excellent outcomes for all children
  • Manage the equipment – ensure that all LEGO pieces are kept in their place and kits are ready for children to build and enjoy the session.

Qualifications and skills:


Essential:

  • Reliable, Organised and Punctual, Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about supporting children’s development
  • Enjoys teaching and learning about new concepts


Desirable skills:

  • Experience with LEGO, Coding and Robotics.
  • Desirable skills: Technical affinity and good in related Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Science, Physics and Information Technology subjects


Job Type:


Part-time, around 1h - 2h/ session, from 3.30pm to 4:30 pm or to 5.30pm
