FIRST LEGO LEAGUE 2024: ENGINEERING MINDS TEAM IS GOING TO THE NATIONALS!

We are thrilled to announce that Engineering Minds in collaboration with the Institution of Engineering and Technology hosted a spectacular First Lego League event at Greenwich University on Saturday, February 3rd. Marking the second year of our involvement, following a successful event in 2022, this day was dedicated to celebrating STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics

Over 70 children aged 9-16 enjoyed a variety of Robot Games, showcased their Innovation Ideas, and most importantly, had a great deal of STEM inspiration and fun.

The highlight of the day was our Eltham Club competing against a strong lineup of contenders from independent clubs and secondary schools around South East London and emerging victorious! They have won the Champions Award and have qualified for the National Final of First LEGO League, which will be held in April in Harrogate.

For their Innovation Project, they would like to create a virtual reality experience for children who may not get the opportunity to try it due to inaccessibility. The virtual reality experience would allow disabled children to experience activities such as skiing, climbing and other physically challenging activities and experiences through the eyes of a friend of similar age.

Children in Eltham Club have come up with a few questions to help them with their design and are trying to gather as much information from people who might benefit from this project. So if you or your child has a physical disability that makes unaccessible some fun activities that are experienced by other children around them, please fill in this short questionnaire that can help the young engineers in Eltham Club to shape their project.
