OUR CLUBS
How Our LEGO Robotics Sessions Work
At Engineering Minds, we believe children learn best when they are engaged, curious and having fun. Each of our afterschool sessions is thoughtfully designed to combine STEM learning with creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.
What to Expect During a Session
Each session follows a structured format. Sessions are run in a structured, classroom-like environment where children sit at tables and work in small teams.
Just like at school, the focus is on concentration, teamwork and hands-on problem-solving.
We want every child to get the most out of their time with us, so we kindly ask that children stay seated, focus on their tasks and avoid any running around or distractions. This helps everyone stay safe and enjoy the experience.
Introduction & Exploration
We begin with a child-friendly presentation to introduce the topic of the day. This might include video snippets, fun images and real-world examples to spark curiosity and help children understand how the day’s challenge connects to science, technology, or engineering.
Build & Code
Children then dive into building and programming their robots using the LEGO Education kits.
Our sessions are goal-oriented and tutors work closely with the children to ensure everyone makes meaningful progress.
Sharing & Presenting
Where time allows, children are encouraged to present their models, share how they solved problems and celebrate their creativity with the group.
Tidy-Up & Wrap-Up
At the end of each session, all children take part in tidying up their workspace. This helps foster responsibility and respect for the materials and each other. Tutors give clear instructions and we expect all children to follow them as part of the club routine.
What We Expect from Children
We want every child to have a safe, enjoyable and inspiring experience at Engineering Minds. To make this possible, we ask that children:
Listen carefully during instructions
Treat others kindly and respectfully
Look after the equipment and space
Try their best, even when things feel tricky
Follow the tutor’s guidance
We understand that everyone has different needs and our tutors are experienced in supporting children with a variety of learning styles.
If Expectations Aren’t Met
Most children settle into the club routine quickly, but if a child regularly finds it difficult to meet the expectations:
The tutor will speak gently with the child to help guide them.
If the behaviour continues, we will contact the parent to discuss the situation.
As a last resort, if a child’s behaviour is consistently disruptive or unsafe, they may be asked to leave the club. In such cases, we will issue a refund for any remaining sessions.
We always aim to work positively and supportively with both children and parents to help everyone succeed.
