THE SCIENCE PLAYHOUSE
A project in the Royal Borough of Greenwich
With funding support from Arts Greenwich, The Science Playhouse is a new and exciting project running from November 2025 to March 2026 that brings science and engineering to life through theatre and performance.
This creative, youth-led initiative empowers up to 15 young people (aged 11–16) to become STEAM Ambassadors by using puppetry, drama and storytelling to explore scientific ideas in imaginative ways. By blending science with the arts, the project helps participants develop confidence, communication and leadership skills while inspiring curiosity about STEAM among younger children.
The play will explore fascinating topics within the Space Exploration theme. The script will be written by GCSE Astronomy students who are passionate about science and creative writing, while a group of young performers will bring the story to life. In March 2026, the play will tour five of our partner primary schools, with a final showcase event hosted in collaboration with local performing arts organisations, open to families and the wider community.
Partnership Opportunity
The Science Playhouse creates a bridge between the science, arts and education sectors — helping children and young people develop new interests, skills and aspirations for future careers in both STEM and the creative industries. By connecting culture, science and education, the project promotes inclusion, creativity and curiosity among young people in Greenwich.
We are excited to collaborate with local performing arts organisations who can support the project through acting and performance guidance, creative development, or by hosting rehearsals and the final performance.
