Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently." – Henry Ford.

Playing with toy cars as a child quickly became dull to me, rather than seeing them move. I wanted to know how they moved. It wasn't until I pried open my beloved hot wheel that engineering became apparent in my life. My curiosity of how and why things worked only escalated the more I learnt, from dozens of Lego sets to designing my own inventions.

Inevitably, I fell in love with cars, from discovering how a brake used a hydraulic system to stop a vehicle, to how the number of pistons and their arrangement provided power to move one, further showed me what I wanted to devote my life to.

At a young age, engineering is often misunderstood as calculating tons of maths and physics equations. But that is far from the truth. Engineering applies to everything within the world. From the rovers being sent to explore the undiscovered of Mars. To the house or building that you are currently in.

The life and role of an engineer is fun and always interesting. As a mechanical engineering student at Newcastle University, I have already been involved in many different projects. I have manufactured and tested a small-scale wind turbine. I have produced my own suspension system to be used within a formula student racing car and I am currently producing a kit to convert old bikes into solar-powered electric bikes to reduce emissions. I was also able to code my own autonomous driving car using Arduino.

I was awarded a scholarship for my exceptional results within university, and I have extensive knowledge in CAD/CAM, FEA, EES, MATLAB, LabVIEW and C++. As well as other engineering-related subjects.

I believe engineering starts from a young age, the natural curiosity a child has of how and why things work, fuel the mind of an engineer. The ideas that you come up with could actually change the world. That is why I am determined to share my passion and experiences to inspire the next generation of future engineers with ENGINEERING MINDS.
